Well if you visited the site in the past few weeks, i had moved my db file accidently and everything seemed to have imploded. All better now, amazingly it’s right up to date because the cron job/curl just keeps going and storing data correctly in the databases.

SO i’ve been quite busy working on a new project. Url is at http://bizerker.com and http://bizemplary.com. The idea is people rate businesses and depending on the rating they are moved between the two sites. So a good biz would end up on bizemplary and a bad biz would be on bizerker. This is just the basics, but there are other things I’m trying to do.. lots of ajax/js effects etc… getting it to work across browsers is not to great.. Othwerise, it’s getting pretty close to finished which is why i’m posting about it right now. Hopefully will start beta testing soon.

Anyway, maybe i’ll have time once i finish this to come back to finditdaily and work on some of the bugs. and add some sites, and fix sites..

Search for find it daily is complete. For now. It’s not really been tested, and I know the links to next pages is all messed up and buggy. Next on my list of to do is to redo the gallery page. I’ve got a few ideas to make it a little nicer for smaller screens and when I have more daily deal sites parsed and more pictures to show. I also am pretty unhappy about the color scheme, still need to make the site look nicer… Anyway, now that I’ve posted what I need to do maybe I’ll be more motivated to get to work.

It’s been a while since I’ve worked on this site. There are a lot of things I need to clean up, i.e. the Menu, the pages when they do weird stretching things, making sure things work well enough on the browsers.. the gallery page for smaller screens so that the image viewer doesn’t get cut off.

One major thing i want to try is making the site accessible for mobile phones. I think it would be cool if you could go to the site and there would be a mobile page where you could view one deal at a time. You could flip through them as you wanted..etc. I’m not sure how to monetize that, because from a mobile phone I can’t image people care about ads much. And the affiliate links are going to kick them to who knows what from the phone point of view. Guess that’s something to research.

Now that i’ve gotten months of content archived I need to start working on some search implementations of which i’ve never done before so that might take a bit of figuring out to do. Also, need to work on more SEO more back linking… feel free to link to the site, let me know and I’ll try and reciprocate.

First posting on finditdaily.com, finally got the blog up… had to make my own custom word press theme. Thie site is finally coming around, don’t be too surprised if there are drastic color and interface changes in the next week or so. Search is probably a little bit down the road, don’t have much to search for at the moment anyway. Going to try and parse some more daily deal sites.

So what’s the point of this site?

1. I wanted to make a complete site that actually did something real.
2. First time using php to auto generate pages for me… all ready this sites got over 500 pages and it’s only been around for a week…
3. SEO, there are a few other sites that do what this site is doing, but I think it will be a fun challenge to try and get better rankings then them (feel free to help me out w/some links!).
4. I love woot, I love shirt.woot, I love yahoo woot ( I don’t love trying to CURL yahoo woot, help anyone?) and then suddenly I realized there were a million woot sites and all the sites that did track daily deals were full of adds and I dunno, one had a really annoying logo..
5. I think this is a fairly lucrative niche, people looking for deals.. I throw up some affiliates around and I’m hoping people will appreciate my more or less non-threatening add free website that hopefully will look pretty some day and they’ll return the favor and buy things through my affiliates.
6. I’m tired, I’ll think of more later!
